Our History

Our journey began through the ministry of Sister Olive Knight, an English missionary who faithfully served in South India. After returning to the United Kingdom in the mid-1980s, she was burdened to reach the growing Tamil community in Walthamstow. Through her fluency in the Tamil language and passion for sharing the Gospel, she began ministering to Tamil families in the area.

With support from Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, Manor Park, the fellowship continued to grow, and in 1986 a church was established to serve the spiritual needs of the Tamil Christian community. The church functioned as a branch of Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, Manor Park, under the guidance of Pastor Jonathan Eden and Pastor G. I. Ebenezer.

In 2005, Pastor M. S. Vasanthakumar became the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Christian Fellowship Walthamstow. Under his leadership, the church has continued to grow in biblical teaching, discipleship, worship, prayer, evangelism, and community outreach.

In 2009, the fellowship was registered as a charity under Immaanuveel Ltd, and in 2020 it became an independent registered charity while remaining faithful to its biblical heritage and mission.

Today, Emmanuel Christian Fellowship Walthamstow is a vibrant, Bible-centred church serving people of all ages. Through worship, prayer, Bible teaching, home groups, evangelism, and community outreach, we seek to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
